Deck the Halls Christmas Towels

A pattern from Valley yarns, I used their 8/2 cotton.  This is very soft yarn and sticks together.  I really struggled warping this front to back and it convinced me that back to front warping was best for my loom.  Broken threads added to the struggle but I was able to use some of the skills I leaned from Tom Knisely to minimize the issues.

Cotton Cloud Pinwheel Towles

A kit I purchased from Cotton Clouds, I loved the look.  This was the first project I did on my Spring loom that required all 8 shafts and 10 treadles.  I struggled with the warp a bit but once I got it all tied on, the weaving went quickly.

Cotton Cloud Artisan Towels

A kit I purchased from Cotton Clouds, it was supposed to be a houndstooth pattern that did not turn out quite like I had hoped.  They still turned out well and the 5 colors looked good together.

Trial Towels

I had used some yarn from a stash I had bought to warp my new loom prior to attending class but did nothing else until I returned.  I set the treadles up for tabby and twill and practiced treadling and throwing the shuttle.  I these colors as they were my least favorite and I did not care about the final product.  They aren't pretty but they are pretty hearty towels.  Maybe to wash the  cars?

Twill Gamp

A gamp is basically a sampler.  This is a 6x8 grid where there were 6 different warp threadings and we then wove 8 different treadling patterns.  This is a great reference if you want to do a full design of one of the specific patterns.  The top and the bottom are both tabby weave.

Class Towel

The loom was already warped and we were asked to pick a color of yarn (I chose Periwinkle) and weave a pattern they provided.  It is a combination of plain (tabby) weave and some twill stripes.  I had enough time to weave 2 (nearly) identical towels.

Stash Towels

I bought quite a bit of 3/2 cotton from someone selling their stash on Facebook.  The natural and black seemed to have shrunk a bit more so mabe the blue and gray are mercerized?
