Learn to Weave

I started this page to keep track of where I was learning to weave—books, videos, classes and people who helped send me down one weaving rabbit hole after another.

Somewhere along the way, I also started teaching. So this page now serves two purposes: sharing the resources that helped me learn and providing information about the classes I teach for others who want to start exploring weaving themselves.

Advanced Inkle Weaving - Baltic Pickup

Learn how Baltic pickup creates bold geometric designs within an inkle-woven band. Students will work with pattern threads, learn to read a pickup design and practice the technique while weaving a patterned band.

Learn the fundamentals of weaving narrow bands on an inkle loom. Students will become familiar with the loom, warp it for a simple project and practice the basic techniques needed to weave a clean, consistent band.

Kelly Casanova Weaving Lessons

This is Kelly's membership site with much more in-depth content. I found this best for rigid heddle looms in particular but she covers most loom types including multi-shaft (floor and table) and inkle.

Jane Stafford School of Weaving

Spanning 10 years of lessons, this is a very comprehensive curriculum for multi-shaft weavers. It appears to be the industry standard for learning multi-shaft weaving on line
